Before You Start

  • Confirm the headset is WH-1000XM4.
  • Compare the shape of the old pad and new pad.
  • Work on a clean table so the driver mesh does not collect dust.

Step 1 — Remove the Old Cushion

Hold the ear cup firmly and lift the old pad from one corner. Pull slowly around the ring. Do not poke the speaker mesh or insert sharp metal tools.

Step 2 — Clean the Mounting Area

Use a dry cloth to remove dust, flakes, or adhesive residue. If old foam remains near the clips, remove it gently before installing the new pad.

Step 3 — Align the New XM4 Pad

Check orientation before pressing. The cushion should sit evenly around the oval cup. If one edge is higher, rotate and align again.

Step 4 — Press Around the Full Edge

Press a small section at a time until the pad is fully seated. Run your finger around the ring to feel for loose edges.

Final Check

Wear the headphones and enable noise cancelling. If one side sounds weaker or leaks sound, the pad may not be fully locked.
